Robert Weedman Tapped to Exploit Publishing Catalogs of
Johnny Bond & Tex Ritter
Nashville, TN (June 20, 2006) -- Johnny Bond Publications is
pleased to announce that Robert Weedman has been named as Creative
Director of the music publishing companies established in 1955 by
Country Music Hall of Fame members Johnny Bond and Tex Ritter. As
the grandson of Johnny Bond, Weedman will be the third generation of
the family to manage this catalog of country classics. His previous
industry experience includes a five-year stint with Sony Music, and
the post of office manager for the NASHVILLE entertainment
ASSOCIATION (NeA). “Robert grew up with these songs,” explains JBP
President and owner, Sherry Bond. “With the recent increase in
interest in our catalog, it was necessary to hire a Creative
Director. Robert was the natural choice.”
Johnny
Bond Publications contains country standards written by Bob
Wills/Tommy Duncan, The Delmore Brothers, Harlan Howard, Freddie
Hart, and many others in addition to Bond and Ritter. Weedman will
initially concentrate his efforts on further exploiting the catalog
to the film and television markets. Recently, the following songs
have been used in those mediums: “Stay All Night, Stay a Little
Longer” (closing credits for “Deadwood” Season Two Finale, and
Steven Spielberg’s TAKEN) and “Burn Me Down” (Nashville Star). The
ever-popular, “Take Me Back To Tulsa,” was featured in A RIDE WITH
BOB, a musical based on the life of Bob Wills.
In
addition to administering the catalog’s classic material, Weedman
will be signing new writers.
